Sri Lanka extends ban on LTTE and other listed groups

Sri Lanka has extended the ban on the LTTE, Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) and other groups and individuals listed under regulation 4(7) of the United Nations Regulations No. 1 of 2012.

Defence Secretary Sampath Sajeewa Thuyacontha, as the Competent Authority appointed for the purpose of the United Nations Regulations No. 1 of 2012, issued an order to extend the freeze on all funds, other financial assets and economic resources belonging to or owned or held by any natural or legal person, group or entity designated and listed under regulation 4 of the United Nations Regulations No. 1 of 2012.

The Government also published a list of the groups and individuals who will continue to be banned in Sri Lanka, including the LTTE, TRO, Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam, National Council of Canadian Tamil, World Tamil Movement and the Tamil Coordinating Committee.
