First-time politician Dilith Jayaweera makes inroads in polls

First-time politician Dilith Jayaweera made some inroads in the 2024 Presidential Election, based on results released early Sunday.

Jayaweera secured votes in almost all the electorates and was 6th on the list, based on results received early on Sunday.

The businessman was behind Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) candidate Namal Rajapaksa.

Jayaweera contested as the candidate of the Sarvajana Balaya.

National Peoples Power (NPP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake was heading for victory in the election.

Dissanayake was leading in almost all the Districts except in the Tamil dominated North.? (Colombo Gazette)
