Interdicted Magistrate Thilina Gamage was acquitted by the Colombo High Court today in the case over the illegal possession of an elephant calf. The court found that there was insufficient evidence in the case against Thilina Gamage. Sri Lankan poet Ahnaf Jazeem granted bail

Sri Lankan poet Ahnaf Jazeem was granted bail today by the High Court in Puttalam. He had been arrested on May 16, 2020 under the draconian Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA). “Unless the charges against him are dropped, he must be granted a fair trial in accordance with international standards.
