Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Sing is closely monitoring the rehabilitation program of war displaced Tamils in Sri Lanka, an Indian Minister said today. Lightning kills elephant

An elephant belonging to the Kotte Rajamahavihara Temple was killed after being struck by lightning, the police media unit said today. The police said that the 24 year old animal identified as ?Lanka? was tied and kept on some bare land in Ingiriya when it was struck by lightning. The Ingiriya police are conducting investigations.

135 accidents in 24hrs

The police recorded 135 road accidents around the country over the 24 hour period ending at six this morning, the police media spokesman said. According to police spokesman SP Ajith Rohana 10 people had died from road accidents during that same period.
