UNP gets Colombo, Rosy to be first CMC female Mayor

The United National Part (UNP) secured the highest number of votes in Colombo at the Local Government (LG) Elections.

As a result UNP Mayor elect Rosy Senanayake will become the first female Mayor of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC).

Rosy Senanayake was earlier attached to the Prime Minister’s office before she was named the UNP nominee for Colombo Mayor.

Earlier Senanayake was a state minister for child development. She is also an activist, a former beauty queen and served as the Sri Lankan High Commissioner for Malaysia and was a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Population Fund. (Colombo Gazette)

CAA approves increase of imported milk powder price

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has approved the increase of the price of imported milk powder. Accordingly, the CAA said that the price of a 1 kilogram pack of imported milk powder has been increased by Rs 50.00 while the price of a 400g packet was increased by Rs 20.00.
