Brother of Shangri-La hotel bomber in custody

A brother of one of the bombers involved in the suicide attack on the Shangri-La hotel has been arrested. The Police said that the suspect was arrested in Dematagoda with?swords. Two suicide bombers triggered their explosives at the Shangri-La hotel on Easter Sunday killing several people.

Indian nationals told to reconsider travelling to Sri Lanka

In view of the prevailing security situation in Sri Lanka in the aftermath of terror attacks on 21 April 2019, Indian nationals intending to travel to Sri Lanka have been advised not to undertake non-essential travel. Expensive gemstones found in Dematagoda house

Expensive gemstones were found in the house in Dematagoda where suspected pro-Islamic State members exploded bombs last Sunday. The Criminal Investigations Department found three gemstones worth more than Rs. 30 million from the house, the Police said. The Police said that Rs. 15 million in cash and Rs. 500,000 worth of foreign currency bills and jewellery were also found in the luxurious house.
