Over 450 refugees in India repatriated to Sri Lanka

A total of 452 Sri Lankan refugees have been repatriated and returned to Sri Lanka from India?with the assistance of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in 2015-16, a policy note of India’s Public Department tabled in the Assembly said.

The numbers were 396 in 2014-15, The Hindu newspaper reported.

?The refugees who are willing to go back to Sri Lanka on their own accord are issued Exit Permits by the District Collectors concerned, for which, to expedite the process, a simplified procedure has been formulated and implemented,? it added.

Police probe letter on social media warning of another attack

The Police have launched an investigation into a letter circulating on social media warning of another ‘Easter Sunday’ style attack on hotels. The letter had reportedly been sent to multiple hotels claiming it was issued by the Police in Fort. However the Colombo Gazette is unable to confirm if hotels in the Fort area have received the letter.
