Government assures solution after monkey grabs power

The Government has assured a solution after a monkey caused the entire country to lose power.
Minister, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa told Parliament that a solution to the issue is being looked into.
He was responding to a question raised in Parliament by MP Ravi Karunanayake who questioned the steps taken to prevent another electricity crisis.
The MP noted that the Ceylon Electricity Board is quick to disconnect the electricity when a resident fails to pay the electricity bill yet does not ensure uninterrupted power to the consumer.
Sri Lanka was hit by a major power outage across the island recently, which lasted for several hours before being gradually restored.
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said that steps were taken to gradually restore the electricity across the island in stages.
The sudden power cut disrupted daily life in the capital Colombo?and other major cities.
The water supply was also affected as a result of the breakdown.
The Ministry of Power and Energy said that an emergency situation at the Panadura grid substation after a monkey fell on to the power lines, had caused the disruption.?(Colombo Gazette)
