Monks surrender to the police over unruly behavior

A group of monks surrendered to the police today over the incident which took place outside the?Homagama Magistrates’ court last week.

The police said that some monks attached to the ‘Sinhala Ravaya’ organisation surrendered to the police after being accused of being involved in the incident. They were produced in court and remanded till February 9.

Yesterday four people arrested for unruly behavior at the Homagama court were?remanded till February 9.

The four were among a group pf people, including several monks, who confronted the police and jumped into the court premises when the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS)?the?venerable Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera was arrested and produced in court last week.

The Homagama Magistrate had ordered the police to arrest all those who?behaved in an unruly manner inside the court premises and near the gate. (Colombo Gazette)

The chairman of the Padiyathalawa Pradeshiya Sabha has been arrested over an assault incident. The Police said that two others were also arrested over the incident. The assault had reportedly taken place inside the Padiyathalawa Pradeshiya Sabha premises.
