PM appoints committee to probe statement on monks by Ranjan

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed a three-member committee to investigate a statement made by State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake against some monks. The Prime Minister’s Office said that the committee will investigate the statement made by Ramanayake and a video he had published on social media. Court orders to remand ‘Ali Roshan? in elephant trafficking case

The Colombo High Court today ordered to remand Samarappulige Niraj Roshan alias ?Ali Roshan? and seven others over the alleged illegal possession of elephants. The court ordered that they be remanded till the verdict in the case is delivered. The Attorney General has filed charges against ?Ali Roshan? and the other accused under the Offences against Public Property Act, with regard to the possession of four elephants without licenses and racketeering.
