Nowzer Fowzie arrested, freed on bail

Western Provincial Council member Nowzer Fowzie was arrested today over an alleged death threat to a businessman, and was later freed on bail.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate had yesterday ordered the arrest of Nowzer Fowzie and accordingly the police arrested him today.

He was produced in Court and released on bail. A businessman had filed a police complaint against Nowzer Fowzie in 2012 alleging the provincial council member had held a gun at him and threatened to kill him. (Colombo Gazette)

SLTB employees to get higher salaries from October 1st

Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) employees are to receive a pay hike from October 01, the Government said.
