Claims that some Sri Lankan politicians fled to India rejected

Claims that some Sri Lankan politicians have fled to India, has been rejected.

The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka said that it had recently noticed rumours circulating in sections of the media and social media that certain politicians and their families have fled to India.

The High Commission said that such claims are fake and blatantly false and devoid of any truth or substance.

There has been speculation that some ruling party politicians have fled to India to seek refuge.

The claims were linked to the mob violence in Sri Lanka.?(Colombo Gazette)

Former MP Gajen Ponnambalam arrested

Former MP Gajen Ponnambalam was arrested in Nelliyadi, Jaffna after being accused of violating election laws. The Police arrested the former MP after he engaged in a heated exchange of words with a senior Police officer. The MP told the officer he was just standing on the road. BIA placed on alert after another bomb scare on Indian flight

The Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) declared a full emergency in response to another reported bomb scare on a Vistara flight which arrived in Colombo from Mumbai.
