Former MP Gajen Ponnambalam arrested

Former MP Gajen Ponnambalam was arrested in Nelliyadi, Jaffna after being accused of violating election laws.

The Police arrested the former MP after he engaged in a heated exchange of words with a senior Police officer.

The MP told the officer he was just standing on the road.

However, the officer accused the former MP of engaging in election campaigning in a manner that violates election laws. (Colombo Gazette)
