McDonald’s and Sri Lankan franchise mutually end relationship

McDonald’s and its Sri Lankan franchise have entered a legal settlement mutually ending their relationship.

McDonald’s Corporation and International Restaurant Systems (Private) Limited have entered a legal settlement mutually agreeable to them, a statement said.

The franchise relationship that previously existed between them has ended.

McDonald’s Corporation and International Restaurant Systems (Pvt) Ltd extend their gratitude to the public for their support during this period and encourage the public to disregard any rumors or speculation previously circulated in the media.

In March?McDonald’s decided to end an agreement with its local partner in Sri Lanka, Abans, and all 12 outlets in the country were closed.

The parent company decided to terminate the agreement with the franchisee due to standard issues.

Abans first partnered with McDonald’s in 1998. (Colombo Gazette)

Couple found dead with stab wounds in Ambalangoda

A couple have been found dead with stab wounds inside a house in Ambalangoda, the police media unit said today. The police said that they had received information that the couple had been murdered inside the house last night. The victims were identified as 63 year old Sepala Bope Arachchi and Malani Arachchi aged 62.
