Sajith questions “prediction” by YouTube host on Ranil’s arrest

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said he was concerned that a third-party was able to “predict” the arrest and remanding of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Premadasa met Wickremesinghe at the prison hospital, Saturday, and inquired into his wellbeing.
Premadasa later told reporters he was concerned that a third-party was able to “predict” the arrest and remanding of Wickremesinghe hours before the former President was actually arrested.
He said the “prediction” was a threat to the judiciary and democracy in the country.
Wickremesinghe was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Friday over allegations he misused Government funds to travel to London to attend a private function.
The former President appeared before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and was questioned over the allegations before he was arrested.
Wickremesinghe was accused of misusing Government funds to travel to London to attend a graduation ceremony of his wife, Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe in 2023 when he was President.
