Sri Lanka calls upon all parties to de-escalate situation in Middle East

Sri Lanka called upon all parties to take concrete steps to de-escalate the situation in the Middle East.

The Foreign Ministry said that Sri Lanka is gravely concerned about the latest developments in the Middle East.

“We continue to call upon all parties to take concrete steps to de-escalate the situation. All concerned parties should return to dialogue and engage in intense diplomatic efforts to establish and maintain peace with a view to ensuring stability in the Middle East region,” the Sri Lanka Foreign Ministry said.

The statement followed the US bombing of nuclear sites in Iran and Iran warning of revenge.

Sri Lanka is evacuating Sri Lankans in Israel and Iran following attacks launched by both countries against each other. (Colombo Gazette)
