Process to issue digital driving licence moves a step further

The process to issue digital driving licences in Sri Lanka moved a step further with the Cabinet approving a proposal to take the process forward.

The process to issue digital driving licences in Sri Lanka commenced 15 years ago, the Government noted.

The Government has identified suitability for the issuance of a digital driving license that has been used by several countries.

New technology is being looked at to facilitate data transfer between the relevant institutions.

Accordingly, taking into consideration a proposal presented by the Minister of Transport, Highways, Port, and Civil Aviation, the Cabinet of Ministers has decided to take steps for the issuance of a new digital driving license and replace the existing license. (Colombo Gazette)

More areas across Sri Lanka have been isolated with immediate effect as the coronavirus New Year cluster continues to spread further.
