Top US official and Sri Lanka discuss conservation policies

A visiting top US official discussed conservation policies critical to safeguarding Sri Lanka?s natural resources.

Acting Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Jennifer ?J.R.? Littlejohn met environmental activists and marine biologists in Colombo.

The US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung, who was also at the meeting, said they reinforced the U.S.’s commitment to global partnerships in protecting the oceans, combating climate change, and preventing biodiversity loss.

“We also discussed conservation policies critical to safeguarding Sri Lanka?s natural resources, which are essential to its resilience and future,” Julie Chung said on X.

During her visit the Acting Assistant Secretary was to meet with Government officials and partners, visit U.S.-supported wildlife protection projects and explore opportunities for connecting Sri Lankans with U.S. experts in priority areas, such as hydrography and climate change. (Colombo Gazette)
