Drug ring uncovered at Warakapola prison

The Police have uncovered a drug ring operated by an inmate at the Warakapola prison. The drug ring was uncovered following the arrest of a woman (50) and man (27) with a stock of heroin in Rambukkana. The Police said over 1.52 Kg of heroin were seized from the two suspects during a special operation conducted by the Organized Crime Prevention Division. The suspects were to be produced before the Kegalle Magistrate?s Court today. (Colombo Gazette)

Close associates of underworld figure arrested

Three close associates of imprisoned underworld figure Indunil Kumara alias Indra have been arrested in Hanwella. The suspects were arrested by the Police Special Task Force (STF) during a raid conducted in the area last evening. The Police had seized stocks of illicit liquor and cannabis, and a toy pistol from the possession of the suspects. The three suspects are to be produced before the Avissawella Magistrate?s Court today. (Colombo Gazette)

Sri Lanka unaware of alert from Pakistan prior to Easter attacks

By Vyshnavy Velrajh Sri Lanka is unaware of an alert from Pakistan prior to the Easter Sunday attacks. The Pakistan High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Maj.Gen (Rtd) Muhammad Saad Khattak had told a private television station that Pakistan had alerted Sri Lanka of a plot to launch attacks on Easter Sunday.
