Philanthropist contributes LKR 270 million for Bishops College building

Prominent philanthropist Nahil Wijesuriya donated LKR 270 million for the construction of a state-of-the-art A-Level building at Bishops College, Colombo.

This substantial contribution marks a significant milestone in advancing educational infrastructure and fostering academic excellence at Bishops College, Colombo.

The donation comes shortly after Wijesurya?s LKR 1 Billion donation to complete the ?Little Hearts Foundation,? a cardiac and critical care complex at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital in Colombo, in December 2023.

The donation for ?Little Hearts Foundation” was facilitated through the Agnes Wijesuriya Children’s and Elders’ Home.?(Colombo Gazette)

Missing Bandaragama businessman found while hiding

A?businessman from Bandaragama who was reported missing in Trincomalee was arrested today while hiding. Mohammed Nazreen, a 35 year-old businessman, was found hiding in Haputhale and was arrested by the police. Mohammed Nazreen was produced before a Magistrate and remanded till September 13.

Daya Master’s case postponed till September 28

The case filed against former LTTE media coordinator Daya Master, has been postponed till?September 28. The case was to be heard at the Vavuniya High Court today but it was postponed as the Attorney General was yet to submit a report on the allegations against Daya Master. The case was filed against Daya Master alleging that the LTTE had used human shields when he was part of the organisation.
