Attempt to flee after robbing Akuressa financial institution fails

The Police foiled an attempt by two suspects to flee after robbing a financial institution in Akuressa this afternoon. The Police said that the suspects had robbed around Rs 2.9 million from a financial institution in Akuressa and fled on a motorcycle. The Police however arrested the suspects and seized a locally manufactured firearm.

Two Chinese nationals arrested over credit card scam

Two Chinese nationals have been arrested over a credit card scam, the Police said. According to the Police, the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) arrested the two Chinese nationals at a hotel in Kollupitiya. The PNB also seized a credit card printing machine, five blank credit cards and a laptop computer. The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is conducting further investigations.
