Monkeypox not a serious threat to Sri Lanka

Monkeypox is not been seen as a serious threat to Sri Lanka and so the public have been urged not to panic. Dr. Chandima Jeewandara, Director of the Allergy, Immunology and Cell Biology Unit of the Faculty of Medicine said that?specific antivirals for Monkeypox are available in Sri Lanka. He also said that the approved vaccines for Monkeypox are available in Sri Lanka. Dr. Chandima Jeewandara said that the population above 45 have at least partial protection as they have received small pox.

Public urged not to purchase fuel from 3rd parties

The public have been urged not to purchase fuel from 3rd parties. Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera tweeted saying investigations have revealed that some individuals are engaged in collecting fuel, mixing petroleum products with other liquids and selling them at higher rates. “Urge the public not to encourage such businesses and to report them,” he said. Military remains on standby to maintain law and order

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has reissued a gazette notice ensuring the military remains on standby to maintain law and order.
