Sri Lanka converts wartime camp site to apparel village

Sri Lanka has converted its wartime welfare camp site in the northern part of the country to an apparel village by setting up factories, a statement from the Industry and Commerce Ministry said. The site served a village during the war time to house thousands of displaced people fleeing the conflict before 2009. Glyphosate found hidden in container with potatoes

A consignment of glyphosate was found hidden in a container with potatoes by customs officers today. Customs officers found 656 kg of?glyphosate when the container from India was inspected. The consignment was detained at the Orugodawatte container yard. Investigations revealed that the?glyphosate was imported by a businessman in?Ja-Ela.
