Container transportation fees increased

The transportation fees for containers has been increased by 10% with effect from midnight today.

The All-Island United Container Transport Owners? Association said that the decision was reached owing to rise in fuel prices.

The price of fuel was increased by both the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and Lanka Indian Oil.

CEYPETCO said it had increased the price of Petrol (Octane 92) by Rs.50 and the new price is Rs.470, (Octane 95) is up by Rs.100 and the new price is Rs.550, Auto Diesel is up by Rs.60 and the new price is Rs.460, Super Diesel is up by Rs.75 and the new price is Rs.520.

Meanwhile, Lanka Indian Oil (LIOC) said that it had also increased the price of fuel following the price increase announced by CEYPETCO. (Colombo Gazette)

Polls chief meets parties (AUDIO)

Indian fishermen arrested

The Navy arrested 21 Indian fishermen off the seas of Thailaimannar, Navy spokesman Kosala Warnakulasuriya said. He said that five boats in which the Indians entered Sri Lankan waters were also seized.
