The police today apologized to monks of the Sihala Ravaya over a police function held in Kandy to marry dogs. Pillay visits final war zone

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay visited parts of the final battle zone in Mullaitivu this evening. Among the areas she visited was Mullivaikal, which was where several civilians were believed to have been killed. She also had discussions with the families of some of those reported missing. Explanation sought for absence

The Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission has sought an explanation from a state institution which had failed to appear before the commission over the Weliweriya incident.
