Victims of the final stages of the war remembered at GotaGoGama

Victims of the final stages of the war were remembered at GotaGoGama in Galle Face today.

Tamils and Sinhalese gathered at GotaGoGama to commemorate the Tamils killed during the last stages of the war involving the LTTE and the military.

Events were also held in the North and East to remember the victims of the war, especially those killed in Mullivaikkal during the final battle.

Thousands of Tamils trapped in Mullivaikkal were killed during the final battle between the LTTE and the military in May 2009.

In the past the military and Police have often prevented public events being held to commemorate the Tamils killed during the last stages of the war. (Colombo Gazette)
