President assures Chief Prelates of a short-term solution

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has assured the Chief Prelates of a short-term solution to the ongoing crisis.

He said that until a permanent solution is guaranteed he is confident a short-term solution will be made available over the coming weeks.

In a letter to the Chief Prelates, made public today,? the President assured that he will take steps to address the current crisis.

He said that steps have been taken to ensure there is no shortage of food. medicine, gas and fuel.

The President also told the Chief Prelates, the country cannot operate without a Cabinet.

He said that an interim Cabinet was appointed to ensure key operations continue.

The President also said that he had invited members of Parliament to join an interim Cabinet but there was no positive response to the call. (Colombo Gazette)
