Over 60 suspects including women arrested over various crimes

Over 60 suspects have been arrested in connection to various crimes during a 24 hour special operation conducted in the Western Province over the weekend. Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Deshabandu Tennakooon told the Colombo Gazette that 62 suspects were arrested relating to 70 cases. Six Sri Lankan fishermen rescued from rough seas

Six Sri Lankan fishermen were rescued from rough seas on Sunday morning in a coordinated operation between Indian Coast Guard’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) and merchant vessel MV YM Summit. In a statement issued in Chennai, the Coast Guard said the merchant vessel was on her way to Visakhapatnam when she sighted a capsised fishing boat with six survivors atop, approximately 170 nautical miles east of Chennai. Accomplice of ?Angoda Lokka? arrested in Thalangama

An accomplice of underworld figure ?Angoda Lokka? has been arrested in Thalangama. The suspect, ?Battaramulle Bunty?, was arrested by the Police this morning. The Police said the suspect was in possession of a stock of heroin and cash during his arrest.
