EC informs court polls cannot be held on 20 June

The National Elections Commission (EC) has informed the Supreme Court that the Parliamentary election cannot be held on 20 June.
Lawyer Saliya Peries (PC) appearing for the Election Commission submitted to the court that as of now the Election Commission feels that the General Election cannot be held on 20th June.
The submission was made when the case over Fundamental Rights petitions submitted to court over the date of the election, were heard for a third day today.
President’s Counsel (PC) M.A. Sumanthiran later informed court that in view of the submissions made by the counsel appearing for the Election Commission stating that the election will not be held on 20th June, and since that fulfills the relief sought by one of the petitioners in SC FR 83/2020, he will not pursue with that application.
