Number of coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka goes past 1000

The number of coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka crossed the 1000 mark today.

The Ministry of Health said that 35 patients were detected with the virus today, taking the total to 1027.

The Ministry of Health said all 35 patients have been identified as Navy personnel.

Among the confirmed patients, 449 have been reported as active cases.

The Ministry said 135 persons are under observation at various hospitals on suspicion of having contracted the virus.

Meanwhile, 569 patients have completely recovered so far and have been discharged from hospital.

The Ministry of Health said nine deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported so far in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)
