Government denies claims probe on media attacks stalled

The Government today denied claims that investigations over attacks on the media have stalled.
Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayake told Parliament today that there was a delay to gather evidence in some cases.
He said that investigations related to the murder of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge and cartoonist Prageeth Eknaligoda had recommenced after the new Government took office.
Ratnayake said that some evidence pertaining to the cases on the attacks on the media had been destroyed at the time the unity Government took office.
The Minister was responding to a question raised in Parliament by JVP Parliamentarian Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa on the progress over investigations related to attacks on the media.
