Number of coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka reaches 797

Twenty – four Navy officers have been detected as COVID – 19 patients among the confirmed coronavirus cases reported in Sri Lanka today.

Director of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said 29 COVID – 19 patients were detected today alone.

The remaining 5 patients were identified as those who had come into close contact with the infected Navy personnel.

Dr. Jasinghe said the latest detections raise the number of confirmed coronavirus patients in Sri Lanka to 797.

Among the patients, 573 are reported as active coronavirus cases.

Meanwhile, 153 persons are admitted to various hospitals on suspicion of having contracted the virus.

Dr. Anil Jasinghe said 215 patients, including a Chinese woman, have recovered so far and have been discharged from hospital.

He added that 9 deaths due to COVID – 19 have been reported so far in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)

Two Pakistani nationals deported on arriving at BIA

Immigration department officials said that the two Pakistani nationals had been deported as they did not have valid documents to visit Sri Lanka.
