Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya says elections for the Northern Provincial Elections can take place only after September 14 as nominations have not yet been called for. Sri Lankans transferred to Nauru

The Australian High Commission in Colombo said that a group of Sri Lankans have been transferred to the Nauru Regional Processing Centre. The group of single adult males departed Christmas Islands ?on a charter aircraft, escorted by the Australian Federal Police (AFP), DIAC staff, interpreters and medical staff. Dimbulapatana families evacuated

Several families in Bogahawatte in the Dimbulapatana area were evacuated this evening following heavy rain. The police said that cracks appeared in some houses and the ground was also unstable. As a result 20 families had to be evacuated to temporary shelters as a precautionary measure. The police said that the families have been sheltered at the Bogahawatte Tamil school. (Colombo Gazette)
