Arrival of ship with 40,000 MT of Petrol 92 delayed

The arrival of a ship to Sri Lanka with 40,000 MT of Petrol 92 has been delayed, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said.

The Minister tweeted saying the arrival of the ship, which was expected in Sri Lanka early this morning, has been delayed by one day.

As a result, the Minister said that a limited amount of petrol will be distributed both today and tomorrow.

“Fuel cargo carrying 40,000 MT of Petrol 92 scheduled to arrive early this morning has been delayed by 1 day. Limited amount of Petrol to be distributed today and Tomorrow islandwide. Auto Diesel distributed at full capacity islandwide. Limited distribution of Super Diesel,” the Minister tweeted.

The Minister had appealed to the public earlier this week not to wait in queues until today owing to the limited supply of petrol. (Colombo Gazette)

Forty-five illegal immigrants detained by the Sri Lanka Navy

Forty-five illegal immigrants have been detained by the Sri Lanka Navy in the southern and western seas. The immigrants were detained in two suspicious local multi-day fishing trawlers. SLNS Gajabahu, which was patrolling the southern waters detained a multi-day fishing trawler which was operating off the southern coast with 26 persons onboard. Court bans protesters from entering several roads in Colombo

A court order has been obtained preventing protesters from entering several roads in Colombo tomorrow (Saturday). The Fort Police obtained the court order with a number of protests set to take place in Colombo tomorrow to mark 50 days since the Galle Face protest. The court has banned protesters from entering York Street and Bank Street, which lead to the President’s House. Attempts earlier by protesters to enter those roads led to the Police using tear gas and water cannons to disperse them.
