President Rajapaksa prays for UK Prime Minister’s recovery

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa sent his wishes to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson who was admitted to the intensive care unit after contracting the coronavirus.

Rajapaksa said that Sri Lanka’s prayers are with him and the people of the UK.

“My best wishes to PM?@BorisJohnson? for a speedy recovery. Our prayers are with you and the people of #UK during these trying times,” President Rajapaksa tweeted.

Johnson was moved to the intensive care in hospital after his coronavirus symptoms “worsened”, Downing Street said early this morning.

A spokesman said he was moved on the advice of his medical team and was receiving “excellent care”.

Johnson has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputise “where necessary”, the spokesman added.

The Prime Minister, 55, was admitted to hospital in London with “persistent symptoms” on Sunday evening.

The Queen has been kept informed about Johnson’s health by No 10, according to Buckingham Palace. (Colombo Gazette)
