Government warns officials on matters related to curfew

All decisions pertaining to the islandwide Police curfew, imposed due to the Covid-19 outbreak in Sri Lanka, are to be drawn by the hierarchy of the Government.

The President?s Media Divisions (PMD) said the decisions will include changes to the time frame of the curfew, as well as declaring certain places as isolation areas.

Changes to the implementation time of the curfew must be informed to the National Operation Center for Prevention of COVID- 19 Outbreak, it said.

The PMD added that decisions will not be allowed to be taken at Divisional level on the imposing of curfews or isolation of certain areas inconveniencing the public. (Colombo Gazette)

Minneriya National Park temporarily closed following clash

The Minneriya National Park was temporarily closed today following a clash between wildlife officers and another group. The Wildlife Conservation Department said that the clash took place after a suspect was arrested over illegal fishing within the park premises. A group of men had attacked officers of the?Wildlife Conservation Department last night following the arrest.
