No new coronavirus patients detected yesterday

No new patients were diagnosed with Covid-19 in Sri Lanka within the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m.today.

The Ministry of Health said 106 patients are confirmed to have contracted the virus so far and are receiving treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) in Angoda.

There are 99 active cases receiving treatment at the IDH on suspicion of having contracted the virus, the Ministry said.

Seven patients, including 6 Sri Lankans and a Chinese woman, have recovered and were discharged from the IDH.

The Ministry of Health said 238 patients are currently admitted to hospitals across the country on suspicion of having contracted the coronavirus.

Over 45 quarantine centres have been set up by the Military across the nation for Sri Lankans returning from overseas to undergo a 14- day quarantine period. (Colombo Gazette)

Cop in Yakkala arrested for accepting bribe

A policeman in Yakkala has been arrested for accepting a Rs. 15,000 bribe, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery Or Corruption (CIABOC) said. The policeman had sought the bribe to intervene in a case at the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court.
