First death in Sri Lanka from coronavirus

The first death from the coronavirus in Sri Lanka was reported today, the Health Ministry said.

A 60-year-old man who was receiving treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) in Angoda, died today.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said in a statement that the man was a diabetic patient and had also undergone kidney transplant.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus patients in Sri Lanka rose to 113 late this evening.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said the total number of patients infected with Covid-19 stood at 110 this evening.

However, three others were later confirmed with the virus, taking the number to 113 late this evening.?(Colombo Gazette)

Nearly 200 Covid infected people detected in Colombo

Nearly 200 people infected with the coronavirus have been detected in Colombo yesterday (Thursday), officials said today. Officials said that 192 people have been detected with the virus in the Colombo District. Among them, 36 are from Padukka, 21 from Polgasowita, 20 from Kesbewa and 14 from Mirihana. Zahran Hashim’s father-in-law and two others arrested

The father-in-law of Easter Sunday bomber Zahran Hashim and two others have been arrested. The Police said that they were arrested from the Kekunagolla area in Kuliyapitiya, Kurunegala for having attended classes conducted by Zahran Hashim to promote extremist ideologies.
