Karuna’s political party and nine others sign deal with SLPP

The political party led Rebel turned politician Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman and nine other political parties signed an agreement with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) today.

The Tamil National Freedom Front Party led by Karuna Amman and leaders of the other nine political parties signed the agreement with the SLPP led by Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Former Governor of the Western Province, Hemakumara Nanayakkara, who in recent times was a strong critic of Rajapaksa, also signed an agreement with the SLPP.

The agreements were signed at the official residence of the Leader of the Opposition in Colombo.

Underworld weapons factory found in Ruwanwella

One suspect has been arrested following a raid conducted on a weapons factory in Ruwanwella. Preliminary investigations reveal the weapons factory belongs to an underworld gang. The suspect was arrested during the raid conducted by officials from the Police Special Task Force (STF). Multiple firearms and explosives have been seized by the STF from the weapons factory.
