Police crackdown on beggars near traffic lights in Colombo

The Police have launched an operation to arrest beggars near traffic lights in Colombo. Police spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said there are concerns various diseases can spread from the beggars to the general public. He also said that it has been found most beggars in Colombo are involved in a business. Two people stabbed to death following clash in Vaddukoddai

Two people have been killed following a clash between two groups in Vaddukoddai in the Jaffna peninsula. The Police said that the clash had occurred last night following a private dispute. At least 15 people had been involved in the clash, the Police said. Two people were stabbed to death during the incident.?The two victims were aged 34 and 56.
