IGP orders probe on CID officer

Police Chief N.K Illangakoon has ordered an inquiry on the CID official who failed to appear in Court yesterday during the hearing in the case on the death of Presidential advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.

The police media unit said today that the IGP has appointed a top police official to conduct the inquiry and take disciplinary action on the CID official.

When the case into Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra?s murder was taken up for hearing yesterday the court had ordered the CID official to also be present.

The CID official was present in the vicinity of the court building but had failed to turn up in the court room when the case was heard.

Meryll Ranjith Lamahewa was identified by the police media unit as the CID officer who was instructed to appear for the case yesterday.

New directives issued when arresting under the PTA
