Travel ban on Royal Park murder convict extended

10 Dec, 2019

A travel ban imposed on Royal Park murder convict Jude Shramantha Anthony Jayamaha was extended by court today.

The Supreme Court had last month issued an interim injunction preventing the overseas travel of Jude Shramantha Anthony Jayamaha.

The ban was today extended till June next year.

Jude Jayamaha was released earlier last month on a Presidential pardon.

Jayamaha was sentenced to death in the 2005 murder of Swedish national Yvonne Johnson at the Royal Park condominium.

The decision by former President Maithripala Sirisena to grant him a Presidential pardon drew strong criticism from a large section of society including Yvonne Johnson?s family. (Colombo Gazette)
