US video on GR doctored

The United States says a video circulating on social media depicting a State Department spokeswoman allegedly making a comment on Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Presidential candidate, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, is fake.

US Embassy spokeswoman, Nancy VanHorn, told the Colombo Gazette that the video is doctored.

The US Embassy spokeswoman added that the actual remarks made by the State Department spokeswoman was not with regards to Rajapaksa.

In the doctored video the State Department spokeswoman is seen commenting on the citizenship issue of Rajapaksa.

However a closer look at the video shows the voice is not synced with the speech made by the State Department spokeswoman.
