Two suspects arrested over leaflets remanded

Two suspects arrested over the distribution of leaflets defamatory of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa, have been ordered to be remanded until 14th November.
An individual, alleged to be a supporter of Non-cabinet Minister Dr Harsha De Silva and another person were arrested yesterday for distributing leaflets defamatory of Rajapaksa.
They were arrested in Mirihana while handing out derogatory leaflets of Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
A tense situation had arisen during the arrest as SLPP supporters had arrived at the location.
Meanwhile, Non-cabinet Minister Dr Harsha De Silva had said that he had not endorsed the distribution of the leaflets.
He insisted that he does not engage in the practice of slinging mud at anyone.
