Sri Lanka interested in Belarusian military hardware

Sri Lanka is showing interest in purchasing Belarusian military hardware, BelTA reported quoting Major General Ruwan Kulatunga.

The Major-General is in Belarus to attend the?MILEX 2017 exhibition. He thanked Belarus for the invitation and praised the Belarusian Armed Forces during the MILEX 2017 exhibition.

He was especially impressed with the?waltz of armored vehicles. Ruwan Kulatunga stressed that Sri Lanka is extremely in cooperation.

?We are mainly interested in overhauling our armored vehicles, modernizing armament systems. We also consider buying new specimen of equipment and technology,? the Major-General said.

In his words, the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka have already been using Belarusian military equipment.

Moonesinghe granted bail in Taiwan bank hacking case

Former Litro Gas chairman Shalila Moonesinghe, who was arrested over the hacking of a Taiwanese bank, was granted bail today. Moonesinghe was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after US$1.1 million from the Far Eastern International Bank in Taiwan was found in his personal bank account. Speaker to inform Elections Commission on Geetha’s MP seat

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya is to inform the Elections Commission on Geetha Kumarasinghe’s Parliament seat. The Speaker’s office said that the Speaker has received the court ruling on?Kumarasinghe being found unsuitable to hold a seat in Parliament as she is a dual citizen. As a result of the court ruling?Kumarasinghe will not lose all her Parliament privileges, the Speaker’s office added. (Colombo Gazette)

President appoints committee to look into fuel issue

President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed a cabinet sub-committee to look into the fuel issue. Minister Duminda Dissanayake said that the?sub-committee?cabinet sub-committee will recommend solutions to address the issue. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told Parliament today that a petrol shipment from India is scheduled to arrive in the country on Thursday apart from the shipment expected tomorrow.?(Colombo Gazette)
