EU notes relations with Sri Lanka seen significant growth

The European Union (EU) has noted that relations with Sri Lanka has seen significant growth, the Foreign Ministry said today.

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the European Union Grace Asirwatham met with Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Helga Schmid.

During the cordial discussion Schmid noted the significant growth in bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the EU in recent years.

It was noted that in addition to the traditional areas of cooperation new areas such as bilateral cooperation on security as well as cooperation on multilateral issues have led to a more comprehensive and inclusive dialogue.

Ms. Schmid recalled previous visits to Sri Lanka and expressed keen interest to pay an official visit in the near future.
