Aberdeen Holdings Achieves Carbon Neutral Certification, Advancing Its Sustainability Ambition

Aberdeen Holdings (Pvt) Ltd has achieved Carbon Neutral Certification from the National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC), marking a significant milestone in the Group’s sustainability journey and its commitment to more responsible growth.

Established in 1995, Aberdeen Holdings has grown into a diversified Sri Lankan business group spanning more than 17 companies across five sectors, with a workforce of over 1,800 employees. As the Group moves beyond three decades of enterprise and expansion, the certification reflects a growing focus not only on where the business grows, but how it grows.

The certification process involved a comprehensive assessment of Aberdeen Holdings’ organisational greenhouse gas emissions and environmental practices. This covered key areas including energy and water consumption, transportation, waste management and other operational activities. The assessment provided the Group with a data-driven understanding of its environmental footprint and supported the measures undertaken towards achieving carbon neutrality.

For Aberdeen Holdings, the certification forms part of a broader effort to integrate sustainability more deeply into business decisions and day-to-day operations across its diverse businesses.

The carbon neutrality journey was supported by Co-Energi (Pvt) Ltd, which provided consultancy services and guidance, while NCPC conducted the evaluation and certification process.

Looking ahead, Aberdeen Holdings intends to continue evaluating its environmental performance, improving resource efficiency and strengthening responsible practices across its businesses. The Group also aims to encourage a culture where sustainability becomes increasingly integrated into everyday operations.

The certification marks another step in Aberdeen Holdings’ evolution, as the Group seeks to balance business growth with environmental accountability and create lasting value for future generations.
