HRCSL establishes unit to probe human rights violations during polls

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has established a unit to investigate allegations of Human Rights violations by Government officials in the context of the 2019 Presidential Election.

HRCSL said the complaints can be lodged via the 24-hour hotline, 1996.

Nine arrested after Navy intercepts foreign vessel with heroin

The Sri Lanka Navy has arrested nine people who were on a foreign vessel in which 60kg of narcotics was found. The vessel was intercepted off the Galle Harbour. The Navy said the vessel did not have a flag of any state or registration markings.
