Lanka tells India to reconsider vote

Sri Lanka Foreign Minister Gamini Peiris on Tuesday called up his Indian counterpart S M Krishna over Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s statement that India might vote in support of the US-backed resolution. US refuses to postpone vote

US Ambassador to Geneva Eileen Chamberlain Donahoe, rejected a call from Cuba to postpone the vote on the resolution on Sri Lanka when it was presented to the UN Human Rights Council a short while ago. Concerns over hate campaign

Concerns have been raised over a hate campaign launched by the state media against some journalists in the private media as well as human rights workers and NGOs in the country.
