Tamils assured political solution not far away

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today assured the Tamils in the North that a political solution was not far away.

Speaking at an event in Jaffna today the Prime Minister said that several steps had been taken to ensure a political solution to the national issue.

However, he said the efforts had stalled as the Government did not have the majority it needed to complete the process.

The Prime Minister, however, assured that over the next two years a political solution will be given to the people.

Contact tracing underway after Russian in Matara tests positive for virus

Contact tracing is underway after a Russian who was being quarantined in Matara tested positive for the coronavirus. The Russian, a crew member of an airline which arrived at the Mattala International Airport recently, has been transferred to the Hambantota Base Hospital.
